Tips On How To Care For Your Cotton Comforter

Egyptian cotton may be the best material for beddings; but thread count also matters. Thread count is the number of threads, horizontal and vertical, that fits into one square inch of fabric. An Egyptian cotton comforter with a thread count of 400 is definitely better than one with a thread count of 230. Even the count itself is in question. There are purists who question the ply that goes into each thread. Some manufacturers twist together more than one ply to make the thread appear thicker.

A good quality cotton comforter will last a long time but it needs special care as well. Because they are natural fiber, extremely high temperature can be disastrous to cotton. Wash your cotton beddings in cool to mildly warm water. Use a gentle cycle in the laundering process. Avoid using chlorinated bleach. They can be damaging to natural fibers.
