It is important in these present days of global warming and global financial crisis that we do everything to conserve energy. Good thing programmable thermostat has been invented. It could range from $30 to $300 depending on its features. The more expensive ones are usually the ones designed for heat pumps. The cost is reasonable if you calculate the savings you would incurred over a year.

A programmable thermostat turns off the HVAC (heating, ventilating or air conditioning) system when it is not needed. This way, electricity consumption is significantly reduced. It is widely known to reduce energy bill by 5 to 12 percent. This also has the ability of programming ventilation into the settings to bring in fresh air in the house. This is proven to be very healthy for the family and friendly to Mother Nature.
