Our technology is getting better and better everyday. New gadgets are coming to meet every demand. Most of these new gadgets, I noticed, seem to be too brittle. Drop it and it breaks. Most have about a year’s guarantee. Most don’t even have power surge protection.

Power surge protection is important. Most electronics are expensive. Flat screen television sets, refrigerators and home sound systems, for example, will cost you an arm and a leg and another arm. If you don’t get them any power surge protection, one surge in electricity (which happens often today) will fry it. Buying a thousand dollar appliance and attaching it into a ten dollar voltage regulator suddenly seem rational when you fry your TV.
