Anybody can make her own curtain or drape. It requires very little sewing skill but will need accurate measurements. Before going out to the store to buy materials, measure your windows and decide on the design. Some designs will need more material than others. Remember to allow enough allowance for seams on all sides.

Readymade drapes are available in stores. They are usually sold in panels in standard widths. Length will vary from window length to floor length. You can choose from light materials in pastel shades that will partially let sunshine in. You can also choose to have drapes in heavy damask material that will totally keep light and sound out.
