A Process that Preserves

Lamination refers to the process of placing something between layers of material and gluing them with heat and/or pressure. It comes in various forms, i.e. paper between plastic sheets in a laminated ID, thick plastic between a sheet of glass in a vehicle windshield and layers of wood in plywood. Lamination preserves things. Laminated photos are safe from creasing and stain. Laminate flooring will withstand the onslaught of frequent use.

Laminate floors are also called floating floors because they float over the sub-floor on top of underlayment. Installation is not that difficult because they are usually available as tongue and groove planks. However, laminate tools are required. The basic tools are a rubber mallet and a laminate flooring pull bar. You will also need a tape measure and a coping saw for dealing with edges and corners.
