A funny thing happened last week. My friends have gathered in my apartment for a little party to watch the UEFA quarterfinals. We were all so glued into the TV that nobody noticed the paella pan was left on the stove with the fire still burning. I think it took a while before someone noticed the smell of burning food.

Well, since no one minded the kitchen, we all made the pact to finish off the paella, burnt food or not. We had a great laugh about it, but in the end we promised that we will never cook something as elaborate as paella on football night. We’ll stick to good old popcorn.
