Keep food fresh longer to minimize the risk of food-borne illnesses. Follow these guidelines to proper food storage in the refrigerator to ensure your family’s safety.

~Don’t allow your fridge or freezer to get too warm. Keep temperatures within recommended guidelines.
~Store produce first then just wash before eating as moisture can hasten spoilage.
~Use shallow containers to divide and store leftovers in for fast, even cooling.
~Make sure stored food are wrapped/covered tightly or placed in re-sealable bags.
~Avoid refreezing already thawed foods.
~Store food within two hours after cooking.
~During power failures, keep the refrigerator door closed as much as possible.
~When in doubt, throw suspicious food out.
